since christmas i have enjoyed my morning goodness called keurig brand coffees, lily loves the k-cups because they make great maracas

no soup for you - one year

this post was lost in the mix. this is the chicken dumpling recipe we had on lily's birthday- 




1 whole chicken - sometimes I just use boneless breasts

extra fat free or low fat chicken broth

several sliced carrots

several stalks of celery

1 cup (or more) chopped onion - sometimes I use frozen - so easy

jiffy mix

milk

salt/pepper

Cook chicken in water then chill the broth to make fat rise to top - scoop off and discard

chop or shred the chicken

Cook onions, carrots and celery in broth until just tender

Add the chopped chicken

season with salt and pepper to taste

Let is simmer to blend the flavors - you can make this part the day before

You want it to have a fair amount of broth for cooking the dumplings so you may want to add more broth after everything is in the pan

mix a couple of cups (I usually use about half a box or so) jiffy mix with a tsp salt and 1/2 - 3/4 tsp pepper (estimated amounts)

Add enough milk to make a thick dough

Add heaping tsp/tbsp dough to bubbling soup - just cover the whole top of the soup using all the dough

cover and lit simmer on medium heat for about 10 -15 minutes - try not to peek

Then gently break apart the dumplings and stir through the soup

for those of you who have not heard the newest college party anthem, i present to you red solo cup by toby keith.  

during the holiday season we acquired a red snowman cup. using toby keith's song as inspiration we altered the words for bath time

my left shoe

you may be asking, why are these terrible photos without lily's head posted below?  the reason, her shoes, or should I say shoe.  she brought the shoe to sara, sat down and hit her shoe on her foot repeatedly, finally turned to her and said "put this on my foot already!"  so, for the next 15 minutes lily strutted around the house with one nike running shoe over the pj's.  yes we know, it could not have been comfortable, but she was content to rock it this way.

after many attempts, sara was able to capture lily's giggle.  after dinner instead of 'all-done' she says 'dadada' to indicate she is finished and ready for tickle time and bath. (DISCLAIMER) this video ends rather abruptly due to the fact dad gets a bloody nose.  it is all fun and games until someone gets hurt. no babies were injured during the making of this film, just a dad!

my apologies for the lack of posts this week, I have been involved in several evening supervision roles this week at school.  posts will resume on saturday!
