Four months into our journey with Carter...he is fabulous. He is a mammoth compared with Lily, but then again, who isn't right? (well, maybe not her cousin Hallie :)) At his check up he weighed in at 16 pounds and 7 ounces, which seems huge considering Lily was 16 pounds 4 ounces at one year, but his weight only put him in the 67th percentile. His height (or length I guess) is 26.25 inches and for this one he is much higher on the growth scale, thanks to Jeff, and falls in the 89th percentile.
Carter still nurses like a champ and typically goes to bed between 7:00 and 8:00, gets up once in the night to nurse, and then sleeps until about 6:00a.m. At which point he and I usually hang out in bed so I can dose while he nurses again. We have tried rice cereal with Carter one time, but his doctor said we didn't need to worry about it because he is growing just fine, so we will take it slow with food.
He is much louder than last month. He "talks" a bunch but doesn't have any words yet. He LOVES to watch Lily and Lily usually likes to play with him, but doesn't really understand that Carter can't play everything she would like him to play. "Carter is not very good at catch Mommy, he not catch it to me..." Really Lily? Carter isn't throwing you the ball? Who knew a four month old couldn't do that? (she still uses catch for both throw and catch despite our best attempts to explain and use the words correctly).
Carter still loves the Jungle Night Club but has recently taken to the Stein - a favorite of Lily as well as their cousins Will and Hallie. He enjoys reading books, chewing on everything, drooling on everything, toys that make noise when you shake them, his giraffe lovie named "Raf," nursing, rocking, being sung to, and of course, Lily.
Carter is the smiliest baby ever which makes each moment with him just a little more fabulous than the last. He is becoming quite a wiggler and can now Houdini his way out of his swaddle completely so we just wrap his legs at nap or night. He is very close to rolling over unassisted, but doesn't really try very hard to make it happen - maybe that is because Lily is always right there so he doesn't need to get anything himself.
