Our little Christmas gift

Yesterday, Lillian entered our world and we are overjoyed with how well she has transitioned.  Currently, she is adjusting to her role as a newborn - eating, sleeping, having her diaper changed, and cuddling.  She has an overabundance of dark hair, we wonder if she will be like Sara and lose this hair and grow in blond hair or if she will look like Grandpa Paul.  During our overnight visit to the hospital, it was a lot like camping, very little sleep and constant interruptions by night creatures. Your bed is not comfy and you wake up in a puddle, oh wait that only happened for Sara!   Thank you to all for your thoughts, prayers and wishes during this amazing time for the three of us.  We look forward to all of you meeting Lily!  Now that she is here, more photos will be forthcoming.  Merry Christmas to all and to all a well needed nap.  

Please welcome to the world Lillian Paige Ekena

Lillian Paige Ekena was born at 5:01 p.m. on December 17, 2010.  She weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and was 19 and 1/2 inches in length. Sara and Lily (this is what we will call her) are doing well.  Lillian cannot wait to meet everyone! 

We have been admitted to the hospital!

At 4:30 a.m. on December 17th, Sara was woken up with some lower abdominal pains. She was a trooper and battled through the pain.  We both went to work, but at 8:30, Sara left work due to the pain level.  I too left work and drove home to pick her up.  We drove to Proctor and Sara was admitted around 10:30 a.m. Sara and Baby are doing well!

A few months back a coworker of mine predicted that Sara and I were going to have a baby girl, I am not sure if this photo had anything to do with that! 

8 Months

Sorry for the delay with regard to these photos. Apparently, having a new job, buying a house, remodeling said house, and helping pregnant wife are not valid excuses for not updating the blog regularly.  These photos were taken right before my cousin Megan's wedding, Sara cannot rock heels on a regular basis anymore.

It's the Final Count Down & The elite Eight

What started with 66 baby girl names on August 5, 2010, has been narrowed down to the Elite Eight!  The brackets have now been updated online and for a quick reference the Elite Eight names have are listed below.  For those of you keeping score at home, please send me an email or make a post below to let me know how many total correct you have from round three.

35 Weeks

Baby E  has really filled out since our last visit with Dr. Bochantin! If she were born today her approximate weight would be 5 pounds 5 ounces.  Her current foot size is 7.71 cm in length, Sara thanked me for rapid foot growth. While not visible in these photos, Baby E apparently has developed quite a bit of hair. Good thing Sara has been buying all those tiny baby bows!  I can only hope that she looks like a tiny Asian boy, who in time will lose all her hair only to grow new blonde hair, oh, wait that was Sara.  While at the doctor I learned something new during Sara's fundal measurement.  For those who do not know, a fundal measurement is the measurement of the abdomen during pregnancy.  A nurse practitioner or doctor will measure from the  top of the pubic bone to the top of the uterus and it is measured in centimeters.  This measurement should be an accurate indicator to the number of weeks you are pregnant. So for this visit Sara measured 35 cm, which is how many weeks she is pregnant.
