18wks-It is a girl!

Sara and I pleased to announce that we are having a little girl!  We are both thrilled with this news.

Here the size of the heart is being measured -our little girl has a heart rate of 148 beats per minute.  

This is the 3D shot, still looks well, hard to decipher.  But those are her (notice my pronoun usage) hands and face!  

Now the circumference of her head is being measured.

16 Weeks

Your Baby in Week 16 of Pregnancy
Your baby now weighs in at a whopping three to five ounces, and he's four to five inches in length. The bones that are now in place in his ears means he can probably hear your voice as you talk to your partner and pals and sing in the car. While he’s getting used to your voice, the tiny muscles in his body, especially the ones in his back, are gaining strength, so he can straighten out a little more. And thanks to his developing facial muscles, your baby is capable of making a few expressive frowns and squints, even at this early stage. (Don’t worry, those frowns have nothing to do with the sound of your voice!) And his eyes are finally working, making small side-to-side movements and perceiving light (although the eyelids are still sealed). Peekaboo!

Lifeguard

In case you were worried about the safety at your pool, get a load of this built in floatation device. As if is working with approximately 25 skinny lifeguards is not bad enough, her ability to blend in has gone to the "waist" side.

Doctor visit

We went the to the doctor on Thursday (July 1), the baby is doing quite well and has a healthy heartbeat of 155 beats per minute.  Sara has gained six pounds, edging closer to my graduation weight in 1996 much to her dismay (Sara would not allow me to post my weight, email me if you care to know).  Sara wanted me to remind you that I was super skinny though and looked like a bobble head.


For our next visit we will determine the gender of our baby.

This was one of the coolest images of the day!  This really brought things to life for me, pun was intentional.

Welcome to our blog!

For those of you who haven't heard our news, Sara is PREGNANT! We visited the doctor yesterday and we were able to see our baby for the first time. Our due date is December 28, 2010. (I know, it will be a great tax write off if the baby is born before New Years!)

Our baby is two inches in length and has a healthy heartbeat of 172 beats per minute. We were able to see the head, arms, and legs. In this picture the baby is laying with the head down to the left and feet up to the right, not to mention, he or she is already sucking/chewing on their fingers.  We got to see the baby move a ton and they got the hiccups while we were there, but she didn't get that part on video. (which won't load, so sorry you don't get to see right now)

Here they are measuring the foot, the nurse said we could buy shoes that are a half-centimeter long.
